“Changing the way America eats” is an ambitious project bringing together farmers markets, organic food producers, locavores, community supported farms, food banks, and communities across the country. This project will be based on the Ning software creating a network that is universal in nature but local in practice.
How it works - the national Farmer’s Market Network (FMN) is open to all groups. large or small, in the natural food chain. These include farmer’s markets, of course, but also fledgling locavore groups and anything in-between. VRDAi helps these local groups establish social networks that provide everything - calendars and directions for local farmer’s markets and community support farms (CSF’s) to locally generated recipes and tips on local planting and harvesting.
Best of all, it’s free! VRDAi and our sponsors cover the entire cost of the network. We also help groups to raise funds and expand their memberships, reach out to other groups and encourage others to establish a healthy, natural food supply. VRDAi is committed, both locally and nationally, through our local partners to help feed those most in need.
Virtual social networking is the wave of the new generation and is here stay. Connecting those on-line communities and to those rooted in the soil is a natural step forward. As the world changes, we have to move away from an oil-based agricultural system to a sustainable model. We envision a time where the front lawn gives way to an edible landscape, where you have to walk past the organic food section in the marketplace to look for the genetically engineered food bins. Where communities come together both on-line and on the porch to share locally grown and harvested food, rich in joy and nutrition.
If you or your group would like to join the network, just drop us an email. We’ll get you set up in less than an hour and get you on your way Tim_schreck@VRDAi.com.
